A Taiwanese-owned hotel in Shanghai said on Sunday that its Taiwanese-style service has helped it receive a top ranking among Shanghai hotels on travel Web site TripAdvisor. Les Suites Orient’s services feature “Taiwanese hospitality and kindness” and are customized to suit individual needs, said chief operating officer Joseph Pi (???).
Pi recalled a recent stay by an Italian couple that reserved a room at the hotel. The wife mentioned in a letter that her marriage was in crisis, Pi said. To help the wife, Pi, a former wedding ceremony consultant, decided to upgrade their room to the presidential suite for one night free of charge and designed special activities for the couple. He also prepared a music collection for the couple, which the husband liked so much that he asked for a copy, Pi said.
“In the end, the couple left Shanghai with smiles on their faces,” he said. To better serve its customers, Les Suites Orient will soon launch a service that will allow customers to use Taiwanese-brand cellphones as landline phones in their rooms to make free calls to their friends in other rooms, the executive said. Sixty percent of the hotel’s customers are from Europe, the US and Australia, with another 20 percent from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, 10 percent from Japan, while 10 percent are from China.
